Organizations I Have Been Involved in at Oakland University
Phi Alpha is a National Honor Society for social work students. Being part of this organization has allowed me to connect with other students to collaborate on coursework and volunteer opportunities. In order to be part of this society, I needed to have a 3.0 to be inducted. I have had to maintain this GPA to stay a part of this society. |
Sigma Sigma Sigma is a National Panhellenic Sorority. Within this organization, I have had the opportunity to hold a few different leadership roles. The first one is Assistant Membership Recruitment Director. I was able to help plan formal recruitment as well as lead informal recruitment meetings with potential new members. The other position is awards chair. In this role, I created awards for sisters so they can be recognized for a variety of different achievements.

Alternative Spring Break is a student-led organization where student leaders get to plan a trip to a different state to go volunteer for a week during spring break. I have had the chance to go down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to volunteer at a place called Victory Living, which helps adults with intellectual disabilities. We helped them with their daily schedule where they learned different life skills including how to count money, work a computer, cook, and sew. They also particpate in Special Olympics so we got to practice with them as well.
